Pressrelease:
If you listen to the discography of the two musicians behind the name The Grab Society, you can make out various musical influences / socialization processes. Manfred Thomaser and Ulf Müller will most likely have listened to New Wave, Synth Pop or Kraut Rock in their lives. However, the creative outburst of the NDW era will certainly also have left its mark, in which the aforementioned styles can all be found. So it makes perfect sense that the first cover version in the band's history comes from that short but intense era. “Da Da Da...” by Trio is a song that anyone who has listened to music in the last 40 years is likely to have heard. It is a perfect example of the bold, often minimal use of language, but also the simple, mostly catchy melodies of NDW.
The Grab Society retain the rough edges of the original in their version, but also add new facets. On the one hand, there is the even more concise use of the voice(s), but also a much softer synth arrangement. The latter is emphasized even more in the Arsine Tibé version, which is also included, making this version the catchiest. In addition to an extended version that is a good two minutes longer, the duo also present a B-side. Featuring a rhythm full of character, “Dislocated” comes up with a German/English and rather Dadaistic (sic!) mixture of languages. With each run-through, further interpretation possibilities arise in the broad field of interpersonal interaction and a certain catchy tune potential is also noticeable here.
