CARDINAL NOIRE

Tonight after 9 PM on Electric Cafe we gonna have a big premiere with a four track EP from Denmark of different kind of versions on Depeche Mode, so that is why I do a album review for you so you can be ready for tonight, a warm up with the album "Vitriol" from the finnish electro industrial, EBM heroes of Cardinal Noire. How many espressos?

"Vitriol" is out now through Artoffact Records and we have 8 industrial electronic killer tracks.

Cardinal Noire have done remixes for example Front Line Assembly so the duo know what they do, this album is really good, scandinavian industrial when it is best.

The two first tracks goes right into a industrial lovers heart, distortion for the people, "Kill Shelter" the first single of the album and "Gun Metal" is the perfect openings on the album, it continues with a more mellow EBM track in "Diatribe" one of my favourites of the album. "Precious Hearts" starts up with a dreamy pad to be very dark and haunting. The titletrack "Vitriol" contains lots of mechanical beats and I get some Nitzer, Skinny Puppy over this one, also a favourite there. "Chariot" is a bit like "Vitriol" but with more distinct drums. "The Swans" is another example how industrial can sound, Rammstein choirs and a harsh raw sound. "Hecacomb" upcoming single with remixes?, melancholic and a bit deep and dark is the first track on the Spotify release that also contains the first official single from the album in "Killshelter" and my favourite "Diatribe", to finish with "Gun Metal"

Finally, some words from the pressrelease:

Musically, the album draws from a wide range of industrial and electronic influences. Cardinal Noire’s sound pays homage to pioneering acts like Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, and Nitzer Ebb, but with a fresh, modern edge that incorporates elements of EBM, dark techno, and even glitch.

The band expertly combines the mechanical intensity of early industrial music with the innovation of contemporary electronic production. Tracks like “Gun Metal” are expected to deliver pounding beats and fierce, distorted vocals, while “Hecatomb” may delve into more atmospheric, brooding territory, reflecting the band’s ability to navigate both aggression and melancholy with equal skill.

"Vitriol" from Cardinal Noire gets 7 of 10 espressos
