The Interview with Xavier from Ruined Conflict:
A Big congratulation to you and the band with the second place on Electric Cafe´s Top 15, January. Tell me a little about yourself, who you are, how long you have done music, inspirations and upcoming goals?
- My name is Xavier Morales I am a music composer from Cleveland Ohio. I started very young learning on piano. I started recording music and creating songs around 14 years of age with a couple Casio keyboards and basic electronics to record with such as an 8-track Tascam and a cheap vocal pedal. During that time I didn’t know much about anything only that I was amazed and interested in analog synths and how mesmerizing electronic music was especially in the genre of Trance. My first synth was a Roland and I was able to get my hands on a Korg ms2000 From that point I was already heavily influenced by Kraftwerk. At that time I had no idea what industrial music was or synthpop so I mainly experimented with heavy metal and joined a few rock bands to really take full advantage of my set up at the time.
- Well as we fast forward to 2006 I was a bit more involved with the underground scene and venues and started my first band named Ethereal Sedition. I have a tough time and had many things going on in my life that spiraled out of control and took me to a new place of writing. This is how I began my journey into industrial and synthpop. I took a year and listened to every artist I could find in the genre and bought any cd’s I could get my hands on to understand the structure and writing patterns in this style of music. I became obsessed in a way. The goal now is to expand on everything I have done and improve on my style and just write music for me like I have always done.
What is happening next for you, with new music, liveshows and events?
- At the moment we are preparing to play at WGT this year in June and a festival in the U.S in the fall. I am currently working on a new album called Throne and it will be a two part album. Part one is currently half way done and it will have a wide range of sounds from dark melodic techno to a bit harder industrial but as always I will include a couple softer slower ballads.
What was your first instrument you bought, and who is your inspiration in artists?
- First real instruments I bought, the Roland D-20, the Korg Ms 2000, and the Micro Korg.
The artist that has influenced me is, Kraftwerk, Fat boy slim, Moby, Underworld.
Do you have any personal favourites in music?
- I listen to everything from heavy metal to indie pop, example artist like lykke li and Pale Waves to Arkona and Electric Callboy So it just depends on the mood. My playlist is all over the place.
Thank you for the interview Xavier.
