A year and a half after the release of their previous album, The Ultimate Dreamers are making their comeback with “Forced to Live”, the lead single heralding a new album, Lost Oneironaut, due out in March 2027.
This delightfully dramatic opener plays with the conventions of melancholic post-punk, whilst opening up new sonic horizons. Against a backdrop of plaintive, almost painful guitars, a steady beat marks the steps of a forced march through a monotonous existence. The shadow of Camus looms over the lyrics, somewhere between lucid despair and resigned gentleness.
“Forced to Live” thus draws the listener into haunting interweavings and melodic chiaroscuro, where tension constantly rubs shoulders with fragility.
To bring this first chapter of Lost Oneironaut to life, the Brussels-based quartet has teamed up with two leading figures from the alternative scene: Déhà, best known for his work with Wolvennest, and Len Lemeire, a key figure in the Implant project and collaborator with Anne Clark, who has been producing the band’s work for several years.
With “Forced to Live”, The Ultimate Dreamers unveil the first glimpse of an album that promises to be dark, profound and organic.
