DISKODIKTATOR is a Swedish synth-pop and electronic music project from Skåne (originally formed as FKK Jugend in the summer of 1996).
Who is involved?
The band has featured various members over the years, but the core and driving forces are primarily:
• Johan Billing (founder, former member of S.P.O.C.K)
• Magnus Johansson (brother of the artist Jay Jay Johanson)
Other individuals associated with the project over the years include, among others, Joel Lindqvist, Magnus Johnsson, Ellen Lundgren, SvennAntenn, Daniel Silwerfeldt, and Anna Weiss.
The latest release from DISKODIKTATOR is "Bättre Tider" and it features a remix by Peter Sjöholm.
Peter Sjöholm is a Swedish synth-pop artist, musician, and producer based in Stenungsund. Within the Swedish electronic music scene, he is known for his melodic and playful synth-pop, featuring lyrics in Swedish that focus on everyday realism and often incorporate humor.
In addition to his synth-pop solo project, he has a background in punk, for instance, he has played guitar in the punk group Gubbjävlers and served as the vocalist for the punk band Syster Ingrid.
He also runs the independent record label, Computer Killed The Recordstore.
His solo music is often described as nostalgic and energetic synth-pop, with clear influences from classic Swedish bands within the genre, such as
Page and Adolphson & Falk.
The remix of "Bättre tider" (released via the label Electric Fantastic Sound) is notable, as Sjöholm does not typically produce remixes for other bands. For this version, he undertook a complete musical restructuring and added his own vocals, giving the track an entirely new, unique character. The original version of the song can be found on the Diskodiktator album *Det trötta hatets stad*.
